I guess everyone knows this by now. It's never too late to pay my respect for this fine artist of our generation. As a kid of the eighties, I recall singing "Heal The World" during our grade school graduation and seeing his Pepsi commercials on TV. I guess whatever genre we love, we can't deny that Michael Jackson has influenced us in some way.
May you rest in peace and "moonwalk" with the angels Jacko. Thank you for your music.
I wanted to take this baby home, but something this big is not suitable for traveling folks like us. Too bad because the price was reasonable enough.
When talking about guitars, I can't help but tell you guys how much I love music. Unfortunately, this feeling isn't reciprocated quite well. But that deserves a separate topic, so for now let's go back to another batch of USA photos.
I never realized that Sunset Boulevard is also known as Guitar Row, because of the many music shops and studios that line the famous stretch. One of which is Guitar Center, famous for its Rock Walk located at the entrance.
What I love asides from the numerous instruments for sale and on display is the fact that you can take pictures inside. It's a great way to attract potential customers. I actually wanted to buy a second hand Fender P-Bass, but I guess it's not practical if you're traveling and at the mercy of airline cargo volume limits.
So next time you're in Los Angeles, do check out Sunset Boulevard if you're into guitars and other musical instruments.

It's bittersweet that last night's concert is finally over. Sweet in a sense that they were able to finish it and it didn't feel bitin, but bitter because it's now uncertain if they will ever get together again.
There are so many memorable stints from last night, and Burn does justice in telling the whole story (see links below). But for me, probably the best part is the extended set, where we were able to jump from Silver to Gold. You can really feel that the band wanted to perform, and there's this positive vibe among them. It was also a fitting tribute to their departed friend FrancisM, and it gave me goosebumps when they sang a part of Kaleidoscope World. Oh, and the fireworks at the back when they sang AngHuling El Bimbo (supposedly the last song) was just awesome.
So again, thank you so much Ely, Marcus, Buddy, and Raimund. The legacy lives on.
Master rapper Francis "FrancisM" Magalona surrendered to leukemia just this noon. May he rest in peace, and we will be forever thankful for his contribution in music (as well as film, television, and photography).
I can't get enough of the Eraserheads. Thankfully, this DVD will help me quench my appetite for this awesome band.
All I can say is that if you're a fan like me, you should get a copy too. I'm no expert on audio and video, so I won't say anything about them (you can check this review by Gerry Cacanindin for all that technical stuff). What I really loved about the DVD is the "Behind the Scenes" portion, where the sound check for Magasin was shown in full. It's like a preview of what could have been had Ely Buendia not fallen ill that night.
Probably my only gripe is that the plastic holding the disc came off the case as soon as I opened it. But no worries, I loved everything else about this DVD.

Yes!!! It's still in March, but I'm already excited. So excited that we already have tickets, seven silver ones. The first one was awesome (even though it ended abruptly), and I sure bet this one would be just as great.
An excerpt from the series, regarding the Eraserhead's final days.
Wow, it's been a while again since my last post. I've been busy these past few days, with all the client calls and trainings to attend to at work. Thank God I got my much needed rest with the long weekend that we had.
So, to make this post, well, informative, I'll write something that may interest Eraserheads fans, like me. After that much awaited reunion concert back in August, MYX has aired the documentary MYXposed: Gusto Mo Bang Sumama?, a four part series about the Eraserheads. It features interviews from the band members themselves and people involved with the band, from their humble beginnings to their untimely disbandment, and up to their reunion concert (and future plans).
I was too busy to catch all the episodes, and it's unforetunate for some that not all cable providers carry MYX. Luckily, Youtube is always to the rescue. There are many versions available, but in my opinion, the best compilation is the one from thinkinmansjoker. And to quote him, "no copyright infringement intended", it's just a way of sharing this documentary to other fans unaware of it.
Even though the reunion concert was cut short, I still can't thank these guys enough for giving us a really wonderful show last night. All our prayers go out to the speedy recovery of their frontman, Ely Buendia.
Before everything else, I just have to say this. The Eraserheads is probably the most influential band of my generation. Their songs were like the soundtrack of my highschool life. It's like I can attach a certain feeling or recall a certain event with their songs. They're the reason why I tried to learn the guitar and aspired to become a rockstar. Yesterday's reunion concert, in my opinion, was far better than any Ateneo - La Salle game or any international act coming to Manila.
With that said, we really had a fun yesterday. Mac and Tim met with me here at the house, and before leaving we took pictures of the tickets and I had a hard time deciding if I should bring my camera (which I did anyway). We fetched Burn at Ayala Center, then proceeded to The Fort. We arrived at around five in the afternoon, and fans were starting to occupy the field.
After a really heavy dinner, we bought bottles of mineral water, got our cameras, and proceeded to the venue. Unfortunately, big cameras (like my SLR) and water bottles were not allowed inside. Belts were also prohibited, which was a big problem for Mac and Burn. So after complying to the said rules, we were able to enter the venue, waited for another hour, and the countdown to the concert started. That was probably the longest ten minutes of my life.
And then the concert started. They sang fifteen of their hits for the first set, and it was said that more songs were to be played in the next set, including some of their all time favorites. But thirty minutes after the first set ended, it was announced that everything had to be cut short, that lead singer Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital due to fatigue. No jeers were shouted, instead everyone cheered for the band. And a silent prayer ended the event.
We were also exhausted after the concert. I almost lost my voice singing my favorite tunes. And with the multitude of fans that came, it was hard to leave The Fort early.
We hope that another reunion gig is in the works. Again, thank you Eraserheads.
